A hat-trick of tries by winger Matt Trevail was the highlight of the city side's 10th league win of the season which leaves them just four points off top spot in what is turning out to be a very closely contested league.

It was the Devon club though who began the game the better but Truro's defence held firm.

And after weathering the initial Crediton storm they took the lead after 10 minutes when a catch and drive move saw prop Chizz Gilbert credited with the touchdown. Scott Martin added the conversion points from wide out on the touchline.

And when Trevail scored his first try after 25 minutes when he gathered Rikki Brandham's box kick Truro looked in command, especially as Martin kicked the conversion to give them a 14-0 advantage.

But in injury time Crediton got into the game with Ross Andrews scoring a try.

The second half though was all Truro as they completely outplayed the home side with some thrilling rugby.

After 55 minutes Trevail crossed for his second try after a brilliant handling move and 10 minutes from time the excellent Joe Williamson combined with Owen Hambly and Justin Irons to give Trevail his third try to complete his hat-trick of touchdowns.

Truro were still not finished and capped an outstanding display with their fourth try of the match when replacement hooker AJ Geach was driven over by his pack following a line out.

Even the home sponsors were impressed, treating the entire Truro squad to a welcome sports drink.

Truro: S Martin; Trevail, Irons, Hambly, Rowe; Williamson, Brandham; Gilbert, Birkett, Scoble; Parker, W Martin; Danielli, Temounaui, Allen. Replacememts: Paterson, Geach, Hoare.

And they will now meet Western Counties West side Bude at St Clement Hill on Easter Saturday with a place in the final of the revamped competition at stake against the winners of the Camborne-Wadebridge Camels semi-final.

Both teams had played tough away league games the day before and neither club wanted to play the delayed tie but the CRFU, fearful of further postponements, ordered the game to go ahead.
